Drumming for deaf and hearing impaired people

Deaf and hearing impaired people can make music. As an example, Dame Evelyn Glennie from Scottland is one of the most famous drummers in the world, although she is nearly deaf since she was 12 years old.

Drums and percussion instruments are loud and create intensive vibrations. This way we are able to feel them directly with our body - through those vibrations and the stimulus of our hands.

Together with Bildungshaus Schloss Retzhof I built up this workshop for deaf and hearing impaired people. Let’s dipp into the music together and learn how

- to hold and strike your drum

- to play original rhythms like Calypso, Sirto and Samba

- to feel the different sounds of the drum

- to do different things with both hands and develop our concentration

Location: Bildungshaus Schloss Retzhof, A-8430 Leitring/Wagna

Date: by arrangement or announcement

Duration: one or two days

Costs: on request
